![]() The Backcountry ski was designed as a modified all mountain ski. We wanted a ski that was large enough to ski powder but small enough to ski hard snow and modified to take on variable snow. Basically a ski that could be carried for miles into the backcountry that is big enough that you can still rip a line on it. The tips and tails have a generous amount of taper tangent too and complementing the sidecut. The tail has a longer low profile upturn (almost a short low rocker with no actual twin). A couple mm of camber in the back ¾ of the ski rolls into a small amount of tip rocker on the front ¼ of the ski. Both the rocker tail design and the tip rocker complement the modified sidecut. With the smaller sidecut radius and shortened sidecut run length (due to taper) this ski is able and willing to make a bunch of backcountry turns or ski well in tight chutes and steep areas. The backcountry ski will feature a smooth round radius flex that is a step softer then the MTN Freeride skis. The molding provides plenty of contact for skinning and offers a much more user friendly experience in variable snow or powder. ![]() |
